Out This Week: New Releases (12th – 18th May)

After a very slow week we’re right back on track with a lot of releases coming across all platforms. Usually when I pick a game of the week I’ve not played it yet, but this time around Phoenix Online Studio’s gave me the chance to play the game I was most excited about, Cognintion: An Erica Reed Thriller, Episode 3: The Oracle.  I’ve already played it(about to finish it too!) and It is every bit as good as I had hoped, if not more. The visuals are still as stunning, the story is gripping and very addictive gameplay that gives you a true sense of achievement every time you find a clue or a suspect. Love it! So let’s hurry through this because I want to get back to the game asap, just kidding,  we’ll go into every game in detail(no we wont).

Releases from 12th – 18th May

Trave (PC)

13th May, 2013

Trave is a casual platformer. Guide a ball through levels, collect the goodies and get high scores. Pretty simple straightforward stuff.

Ocean City Racing (PC, Mac)

13th May, 2013

This title was scheduled to release a month ago, it was featured in another Out This Week edition, but sadly it never made it ‘out’ so to speak. The open world indie racing game uses Unreal 3 Engine and promises to be one worth checking out, I really hope it makes it out this week, I’ve been itching(the good kind of itching) to play this.

Metro: Last Light (PS3, XBox 360, PC)

14th May, 2013

The sequel to Metro 2033, the game is unsurprisingly set in….2034! I’ve never been a huge fan of the now popular post apocalyptic genre. The project was owned by the now defunct THQ, Deep Silver bought the rights and it will be interesting to see how how they have done. I have to say I am excited about this one, well excited might be a bit too much, how is pleasantly eager? Yeah that’s better. That’ll do.

Dust 514 (PS3)

14th May, 2013

The MMO FPS game that is set and connected to the EVE Universe. I tried this game’s beta a couple of months or so back, it was okay but nothing spectacular, but then agaon MMOFPS is not my genre of specialty. The game was okay, if you’re a fan of the genre then it’s a very good pick, I am not so its not.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance – Blade Wolf (PS3, XBox 360)

14th May, 2013

This is the latest DLC to hit the Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, where you get to play as LQ-84i(totally copy pasted that). I am not sure what character that is as I didn’t buy / play the game, but all the images have this dog robot thing so I am guessing its that.

Anomaly 2 (PC, Mac, Linux)

15th May, 2013

Set in the futuristic alien invaded earth, this game uses tower defence as well as tower offence to attack and destroy alien robotic thingies.

Sanctum 2 (PC)

15th May, 2013

Sanctum 2 returns with its hybrid style game play, a cross between FPS and tower defence, it’s been raking up great reviews across the board and I am very excited about this one(honestly!)

Cognition: An Erica Reed Thriller – Episode 3 : The Oracle (PC)

16th May, 2013

The third installment in the episodic point and click mystery thriller. Cognition: An Erica Reed Thriller returns with The Oracle. I was lucky enough to play this game pre-release and it quickly became my pick of the week. If you haven’t already then head right over to the Phoenix Online Studios site and grab the season pass, it’s worth it!

Call of Duty: Black Ops II – The Uprising (PC, PS3)

16th May, 2013

The DLC that contains Mob of The Dead, it came out for the XBox a while back and now it’s coming out for PS3 and PC gamers. If you are a fan of the series, then you’ll definitely want to grab this one.

The Starship Damrey(3DS)

16th May, 2013

Nintendo titles are always..interesting, I have no idea what Damrey means but the game seems interesting enough, uncovering clues about your circumstances is the objective of the suspense and horror based adventure game. Not many titles make me miss the 3DS(or any other nintendo devices for that matter) this one, however, does make me wish I had a Nintendo.

Fire and Forget: The Final Assault(PC)

16th May, 2013

After 2 decades of slumber, the title has awaken and it is pissed! Blow stuff up, fly, drive and dodge as you try to save the world in this prototype designed for modern combat. Basically cool cars with guns and jet engines!

After a very disappointing week of only 4 releases, it feels good to have a lot of games coming out this week!  Which game are you looking forward to the most? Did we miss any? Let us know in the comments!
