I turn 23 this week but I am more excited about the games coming out this week than I am about my own birthday, there’s some perspective for you. But I can’t be blamed, it is a great week to be a gamer! You have DARK a vampire action RPG, Deadpool a bloody bloody game filled with ….that’s right BLOOD! and to top it of you have Spartacus Legends coming out, to give you a taste of a gladiators life. I will be getting all three as soon as possible there’s also Company of Heroes 2, the beta was fun but it won’t be a day 1 buy for me, action trumps strategy as far as I am concerned, I’m also keeping an eye on Ride to Hell: Retribution, but I am not expecting much from that game. A tough week for me to pick one game that stands out above all else, but I am gonna give my vote to DARK. I loved the visuals of the game, the team at Kalypso seems to have a great game in their hands. Deadpool gets honourable mention because it was basically neck and neck between the two, but Activision games based off of licenses haven’t won my confidence over yet, especially after the Fast & Furious game, which was neither fast nor furious.

 Releases from 23rd – 29th June

Company of Heroes 2 (PC)

25th June, 2013

The first one is said to have revolutionized RTS games. The sequel has shown promise with beta testing and looks to up the ante as far as graphics and gameplay is concerned. There are some changes but I won’t be expecting too many changes, and that’s a good thing. Company of Heroes has an identity to hold on to, and I believe it will do a good job of doing so.

Project X Zone (3DS)

25th June, 2013

As many of you already know I do not own a 3DS, in fact the last Nintendo I owned was the original GameBoy. So I am no expert when it comes to the modern day 3DS games. The initial feeling I got from reading up on this is that it is basically like the PlayStation All star battle royale, but with characters from Japan’s most legendary video game companies. One look at that cover and all the memories come flooding back…well most of it anyways.

Deadpool (PS3, PC, XBox 360)

25th June, 2013

A game that’s has been striving to get that mature rating, I bet they through a party when they finally got it. A game that puts the wisecracking sword wielding maniac, also known as Deadpool, up against villains who apparently love to bleed. So, yeah. Blood. Lot’s of blood.

Ride to Hell: Retribution (PS3, PC, XBox 360)

25th June, 2013

Imagine son’s of anarchy: the game, and this is probably what it would end up being. Not a AAA title, not a game that you can buy without reservations but a game that has a chance of being good, but the probability of being terrible. Expect a lot of cheesy one liners, husky voices and facial hair, lots of it! All that aside though, I hope it turns out to be a good game but I’d be stupid(er) to think that it will.

Marumasa: Rebirth (PS Vita)

25th June, 2013

A sequel to Marumasa: The Demon Blade, the game was supposed to come out last week and was featured in the last edition of OutThisWeek but apparently it’s been pushed over to the 25th.

Kinect Sports Gems: Boxing Fight & Doodle Jump Kinect(XBox 360 – Kinect)

25th June, 2013(Boxing) 28th June, 2013(Doodl Jump)

Bundled them up because let’s face it, kinect is the most useless thing as far as gaming peripherals go, right up there with Move. But then again some people like it so here ya go! One is a boxing game, while the next has everybody’s favourite snotty character return adapted for kinect.

Magic: Duels of the Planeswalkers (PC, XBox 360)

26th June, 2013

Card games are becoming increasingly popular, it will be nice to see what they plan to do that’s different.

Spartacus Legends (PS3, XBox 360)

26th June, 2013

This game doesn’t sound like something that will be too much fun, managing cycling teams barely sounds interesting, but that’s just me.

28th June, 2013

My pick of the week, the visuals grow on you, I must admit I wasn’t a big fan when I saw the first screenshots or trailers but with time I find myself wanting to play this game more and more and it has culminated in becoming a first day buy for me. Play a stealthy vampire in an action RPG…what more could a guy ask for?

Jack Keane 2: The Fire Within (PC, XBox 360)

28th June, 2013

And to end the week in a lighthearted way we’ve got the most notoriously…erm.. goofy pirate! Jack Keane, returning to PC’s worldwide in the sequel to his tales of courage and calamity. One thing is for sure, you can expect more of his trademark antics returning with him. This game is a testament to the developers listening to the requests of the community.

What a week! I can’t wait to get my hands on DARK, Deadpool, Spartacus and Jack Keane!  Which game are you looking forward to the most? Did we miss any? Let us know in the comments!
